Food Waste Caddy.

For Clyde Tech

For our bachelors level industrial design project, I and a team of three others were approached by Clyde Tech to design a replacement to the government-issued food waste recycling caddy.

The identified problems with the existing caddy included: bad smell, leakage, unpleasant interaction, and a constant need to be emptied. By eliminating these problems food recycling may be more encouraged, ultimately contributing positively to the environment.

Green; in more ways than one…

The green coloured areas of the caddy indicate the only surfaces a user need interact with. The handle to lift it, the lid to open it, and the rim to empty it.

Made entirely from LDPE, the unit is easily recyclable at end of life.

Features that encourage easy usage come from various design interaction methods. This consequently encourages food waste recycling.
