Elliptical
This project was the main component of a pre-bachelor level integration class, which was the course’s introduction to the designing and assembling of numerous components.
The brief was to design an elliptical trainer for a specific demographic. This demographic was to reflect the product’s turning resistance, aesthetic, size and cost.
Static LED Display
LED’s illuminate data under the corresponding headings when exercise begins. The decision to exclude a complex touch screen system was driven by the desire for a low cost.
Heart Rate Monitors
Stainless steel electromagnetic sensors are able to monitor a user’s heart rate. This is able to determine burned calories alongside the known resistance setting.
Magnetic Resistance
A slightly more expensive method of producing resistance, magnetic resistance provides superior reliability and control over your exercise. The main resistive component sits in its own housing, moving closer/further from the main magnetic flywheel to adjust difficulty.
